Welcome to the Progressive Autodidact

The Progressive Autodidact (formerly Progressive Homeschooler) explores a broad array of topics of potential interest to progressive, open minded individuals who, like the author when her children were young, may be homeschooling, or like the author today, may not be (because her kids are grown), but who still considers herself a lifelong, self-directed learner in her own right.

The Progressive Autodidact also shares resources and information about issues upon which those interested may take action.

VOTE!

So I've been out of touch for a while - real life called, and writing deadlines and family. But it's election time (as if you couldn't tell from the onslaught of silly campaign ads), and time to get down to the business of separating fact from fiction (as much as possible) and trying to make some educated election decisions.

To that end, I've pulled my four favorite civic engagement resources to highlight here:
Of the four,  I prefer Project Vote Smart, with its clean, comprehensive profiles of candidates and issues, and considerable background reference links.  You can also find a big collection of civic engagement and education links and resources on the menu bars to the left and right.

So good luck, and vote carefully out there!
